What we do

From light surface wear to full restoration — always with a clear line on what we will not do.

Pokemon card surface cleaning

Oils, fingerprints, film, and light debris that dull artwork or holo — cleaned without chewing into the finish. Especially common on vintage Base Set, Jungle, and Fossil era cards pulled from old binders.

Holo scratch removal

Visible holographic scuffs that tank surface subgrades. We reduce glare lines where the coating allows so the card presents cleaner under grader lights.

Edge repair & whitening

Minor whitening and soft edge wear that reads louder under grader lights than in a binder — reduced with non-additive techniques only.

Dent & crease reduction

Shallow dents and light creases that drag a card down a grade or two — softened, never filled or painted. Severe stock creases often cannot be fixed.

Bulk & volume submissions

Submitting 20 or more cards? We quote custom volume pricing for Deep Clean and Full Restoration with flexible intake for dealers and large collectors.

Honest limits

Severe stock creases, ink loss, water stains, and missing material often cannot be fixed. We say so up front so you do not pay for work that will not help.

Ethical repair only

One of the most common questions in the hobby. Here is how PokeRepair draws the line between accepted cleaning and alteration.

We remove contaminants and reduce existing wear with non-additive techniques. We never repaint, trim, coat, or add material. Graders still evaluate each card as-is — restoration does not guarantee a numerical grade or a clean bill from PSA, BGS, or CGC.

What we do (accepted)

  • Remove dirt, oils, and surface contaminants
  • Reduce light scratches and holo scuffs
  • Soften minor dents, dings, and edge whitening
  • Improve and fix creases
  • Return cards packed so you can submit to graders yourself

What we never do (alteration)

  • ×Repaint, recolor, or add ink
  • ×Trim or cut edges
  • ×Apply coatings or sealants
  • ×Fill chips or missing card stock
  • ×Remove material

Graders still decide the final call. Submitting any restored card carries risk; we will not pretend otherwise.

FAQ

Cost, turnaround, shipping, slab cracking, PSA grade expectations, and whether restoration is considered altering.

Do you repair Pokemon cards?+

Yes. PokeRepair is a mail-in Pokemon card repair, cleaning, and restoration service. We deep-clean surfaces, reduce light holo scratches and edge whitening, soften minor dents, and offer full restoration — then ship the card back to you. We do not submit cards to PSA, BGS, or CGC on your behalf.

What types of Pokemon card damage can you fix?+

We address surface dirt and fingerprints, light holo scratches, minor edge whitening, shallow dents, and soft creases. Deep Clean focuses on cleaning and light scratch work. Full Restoration adds more aggressive cosmetic reduction for dents, creases, and edge wear. Severe stock creases, ink loss, water stains, and missing material often have limited improvement potential — we assess honestly before you commit.

How much does Pokemon card restoration cost?+

Deep Clean is $24.95 per card (over $500 declared value adds 2% of the card value). Full Restoration is $69.95 per card (over $1,000 declared value adds 2% of the card value). For 20 or more cards, request a custom bulk quote. Return shipping and insurance are added at checkout.

What's the difference between Deep Clean and Full Restoration?+

Deep Clean ($24.95) includes deep surface cleaning, holo scratch reduction, debris removal, and documentation. Full Restoration ($69.95) includes everything in Deep Clean plus dent and crease softening and edge whitening reduction. Higher-value cards add a 2% value premium above the thresholds above.

Can cleaning or restoration improve my Pokemon card's PSA grade?+

Cosmetic cleaning and restoration can improve how a card presents — especially surface, edges, and corners — which may help when you submit to PSA, BGS, or CGC. We do not guarantee a higher grade. Graders set their own criteria and can still flag or under-grade a card. Most collectors see cosmetic improvement; the numerical grade is never promised.

Is Pokemon card restoration considered altering?+

We only remove contaminants and reduce existing wear with non-additive techniques. We do not paint, trim, coat, fill stock, or add material. Professional cleaning and non-additive wear reduction is widely practiced, but graders still evaluate each card as-is and may apply their own alteration criteria. See the transparency section on this page for the full line we draw.

Do you submit cards to PSA / BGS / CGC for me?+

No. After cleaning or restoration we return the card packed for your own submission. You choose the grader, pay their fees, and send it in. We never hold or forward cards to grading companies on your behalf.

Do you open graded slabs (PSA, BGS, CGC)?+

Yes. We can crack PSA, BGS, and CGC slabs for restoration when you select a graded card in checkout. Slab removal is billed per card ($19.95 for one, tiered for multiples). Cracking voids the current grade — only do this if you plan to re-submit after restoration.

What are the risks of grading a restored card?+

Submitting any restored card to a grading company carries inherent risk. PSA, BGS, and CGC each maintain their own evolving criteria for what they consider altered, and those criteria are not always disclosed publicly.

  • Restoration is cosmetic improvement — it does not guarantee a numerical grade or a passing crossover.
  • Different graders apply different standards. A card that fails at one company may grade at another.
  • Grader criteria can change over time. Cards that previously graded may be flagged on resubmission.
  • Once a card receives an alteration designation on a cert, that judgment cannot be reversed on that cert.

By choosing to submit a restored card for grading, you accept that the outcome is solely at the discretion of the grading company. PokeRepair is not responsible for any grade, alteration designation, or change in market value from a third-party grader.

How long does Pokemon card restoration take?+

Deep Clean and Full Restoration are estimated at about 1 week after we receive the card, then we ship it back to you. You can track status on your dashboard. Bulk timelines are quoted per project.

How should I ship Pokemon cards for restoration?+

Penny sleeve + toploader, secured so the card cannot rattle. After checkout you get packing steps and our workshop ship-to address — include your order ID inside the package, ship with tracking, and insure for the value you care about. All mail-in work is performed at our Dayton, Ohio workshop — cards are never shipped overseas for restoration.

Can I track my Pokemon card restoration order?+

Yes. Logged-in accounts see order status on the dashboard (new → received → cleaning → shipped). Guests can create an account after checkout to keep the order attached to their profile.

Where is mail-in Pokemon card work performed?+

All cleaning and restoration is performed in our Dayton, Ohio workshop. Cards are not sent overseas for work.

What if I'm not satisfied with the restoration?+

If you are not satisfied with the cosmetic result of our restoration, contact us through your dashboard or email within 14 days of delivery. We will offer a full refund.

Do you offer bulk Pokemon card restoration discounts?+

Yes. For submissions of 20 or more cards, email [email protected] or use our contact page for custom volume pricing on Deep Clean and Full Restoration. Dealers and large collectors are welcome.
